Most Hendrix lessons online teach a simplified version — the chords without the double stops, the solo without the rhythm overdub buried underneath it. I got tired of that, so I started transcribing everything by ear, straight from the recordings, and teaching it the way it's actually played.

I picked up guitar in high school after years of playing sports, and four months in I joined the jazz band — which was rough, since I couldn't read a note of music yet. That experience is what convinced me I needed to actually learn the instrument properly, and it's also where I fell in love with jazz guitar. Around the same time, one of my dad's friends became my first real teacher, and he's the one who put Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, SRV, and Black Sabbath in front of me. I found a bass player, started gigging in high school, and by 18 I'd left my last non-music job behind — playing, teaching, and producing music became the full-time thing.

I went on to study music performance in college, earned a master's degree from the University of North Florida on a fully-paid fellowship, and started teaching at Daytona State College — first part-time, then full-time. Along the way I spent about three years performing with the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra, became a member of the Dr. Phillips Jazz Orchestra, and played with a handful of other orchestras around Florida.

That approach turned into the channel — bar-by-bar breakdowns of Little Wing, Bold As Love, and the rest of the catalog, built from transcriptions instead of borrowed tab. And it turned into the Little Wing Masterclass: a small, live, five-week deep dive for players who want to go past "the notes are technically right" into actually sounding like the record.

These days I'm department chair of music production at Full Sail University in Winter Park, FL, and I'm still performing and recording regularly — the channel runs alongside all of it, not instead of it.
